Review by Rapmullet.com DJ Bedz Title: Old School Party To Go Volume #2 Review by: Big Chew "Welcome DJ Bedz AKA "The White Shadow" to the Rapmullet.com review section. What do you cats know about old school...and a party? For those that don't know DJ Bedz is the official DJ of the Denver Nuggets, has radio shows on KS 107.5 in Colorado and Shade 45 and is letting the skills breathe real heavy on some mixtape shit. Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock are hosting and in my book thats huge. If you can't remember seeing the video for "It Takes Two" on YO! MTV Raps then I can't fuck with you. You don't know anything about the 1st golden age of Hip Hop....go kill yourself. You damn well know Bedz was about to rock "It Takes 2" and "Joy & Pain". The skills were crazy as cats shit too. The shit that fucked my head up was when he brought in the original "Joy & Pain" after the fact...now that's classic. Like DJ Unexpected has done in the past Bedz is intro-ing the original track where cats got the sample from and then rockin' the sampled hip hop track. I honestly can't remember the last time I heard "Walking Into Sunshine" but I sure do remember "Jingling Baby". Belive it or not LL was actually dancing in the video. If you've never heard "Rock Creek Park" I really can't help you old school wise. I mean this joint is a staple party song. To me, the CD caught fire when "I Got My Mind Made Up" dropped and then "Saturday" by De La Soul got cut up over it. I used to rock this song heavly till the tape popped. I haven't heard "Strobelite Honey" in a minute. One of Black Sheeps most slept on tracks and videos. "I gotta go, I gotta go, I gotta go..." That bitch asked him what area code his number was and he said 1-900...hahahaha; classic. You know what else was classic? The transition from the JBs "The Grunt Part 1" to P.E.'s "Night Of the Liveing Basehead". You have to dig the energy from P.E. The sad thing about hip hop now is if you ask the average 18-25 year old who Bob James is they would probably say..."oh you mean dude who works down at the deli?" Sad really cause if you didn't know "Take Me To The Marti Gras" you were a clown back in the day. "Curious" by Midnight Star is my jam and Bedz brought in Rakim after the fact...shit; I was official open. Truth be told I never heard of the Chamber Brothers and "Funky"...that shit has some soul for your ass right there. "I got to get it, I got got to get it". Not only can DJ Bedz get his mixing on properly he can dig in the crate too. It's one thing to know your old school hip hop but its a whole other thing to know the records that "old school" sampled; we'll call that the "Next Level". Not many DJs can go their but Bedz is in good company. I had a three hour road trip yesterday and this CD right here got me through in record time...all highway music. (4/4/07)"
